As with most plein air artists, Cédric Visser is always looking for new places that inspire him. As a creative nomad he lets himself be taken by the surroundings. He describes his paintings as taking a picture with a very long shutter speed. They are like memories to never forget. Every brushstroke is a translation of the atmosphere and the emotions of the moment.

What the Week Looks Like
During this retreat it's all about you and your canvas. You are the writer of the story or the photographer of the memory. The question is how to capture it. By making quick and small paintings of the city, we will discover a new range of techniques to transmit your ideas into reality.
A typical day might include:
  • A morning stroll to discover the Medina and make quick sketches with paint on canvas/paper
  • Shared lunch in the courtyard or roof terrace
  • Defining earlier made sketches or time to explore on your own
  • Relaxing dinner with the group or a quiet evening for yourself
  • Optional excursion in the dark: How to paint a nocturne
  • Time to reflect on the day, or continue painting by moonlight

A Place to Call Home
Stay in Dar Drouj, a lovingly restored 14th-century home in the heart of the medina. With peaceful corners, a light-filled atrium, and a rooftop terrace overlooking the city, the house offers comfort, calm, and space to create. Meals are shared, conversations flow easily, and inspiration is always close by.

  • Stay in Our Unique 14th-Century House
    Everything is taken care of so you can focus completely on your creative process. Enjoy a restful and inspiring stay in a beautifully restored home, filled with traditional Moroccan details.
  • Intensive Creative Workshops
    On five of the seven days, you'll take part in 2-4 hour workshops led by Cédric. You'll explore a variety of techniques and styles, from painting to mixed media - with plenty of space for experimentation and play.
